—2025 INTERMEDIATE INTENSIVE—

OPEN TO STUDENTS CURRENTLY IN GRADES 7, 8, 9

Long Island with its proximity to New York has always been fertile ground for people who are interested in musical theatre as well as professions in music in general...I think that the Long Island Musical Theatre Festival is perpetuating a tradition. But of course with its pre-professional training program now, it’s providing a resource that didn’t exist prior to this.

BYE BYE BIRDIE: Youth Edition

Book by Michael Stewart
Music by Charles Strouse
Lyrics by Lee Adams

A loving musical send-up of the early 1960s, small-town America, teenagers, and rock & roll, Bye Bye Birdie remains as fresh and vibrant as ever. Teen heartthrob Conrad Birdie has been drafted, so he chooses all-American girl Kim McAfee for a very public farewell kiss. Featuring a tuneful high-energy score, plenty of great parts for kids, and a hilarious script, Bye Bye Birdie remains one of the most popular shows in schools across the country. Hit songs include “Put on a Happy Face,” “One Last Kiss,” “One Boy,” “A Lot of Livin’ to Do,” “Kids!” and “Rosie.”

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM

From casting to the final curtain call, a full production will be learned in only 10 days!

If musical theatre is your passion, look no further for Long Island’s premier intensive training program. Our professional Teaching Artists have worked on Broadway and in Long Island’s most reputable regional, college, and community theaters. We look forward to sharing our passion for this craft with you!

Past productions have included a fully staged production of 13 JR, FAME JR, GODSPELL JR, and choral medleys from DEAR EVAN HANSEN, HAMILTON, and SHREK. In addition to casting, staging, choreographing, and performing this musical in only ten days, students will receive invaluable training in voice, dance, acting, and audition technique.
